Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then located many other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking official said the attack made him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
